Real Time Traffic Map Help
Map Zoom and View Controls
A - County selector - Los Angeles and Ventura counties are currently available for viewing. Surrounding counties will be added in the future, so check back often!
B - Zoom in control - Zooms into the map for more detail.
C - Quick jump zoom levels - Jump to a specific zoom level, you can go from level one to level four with one click. The bar closet to the Zoom in icon is the top most zoom level, the bar closest to the zoom out icon, zooms in to the downtown Los Angeles area.
There are four predefined zoom levels, The top zoom level features freeway speed segments, level two has that plus arterial streets, zoom level three also includes arterial speed data, and zoom level four contains all of the above, but is limited to the downtown Los Angeles area.
D - Zoom out control - Zooms out to show a larger geographical area.
E - Save map view function - Checking the box will save the current zoom level, location and symbol layers for your next visit. To unsave the location data simply uncheck the checkbox, pressing the map reset button will then take you to the default view. The save map view function requires that your browser has cookies enabled.
F - Reset map button - Pressing this button will reset the map to the default zoom level and layering.

Map Pan Controls
To pan around the map to other locations, select any of the pan controls that surround the map.

For instance press the top pan bar noted as NORTH and the map will slide down to show more of the northern section.

Symbol Legend
G - This feature is included to allow users to unclutter the map. this will help you concentrate on the features that interest you. Select the check box next to the above traffic icons to toggle that particular item on and off on the map. The icons will display on the map if the box is checked, they will not appear if the box is not checked. If the box is checked for an item but there are no icons present, that means there are devices currently displaying in the system. Note the different colors for incidents are:
  • Sig Alert - CHP Sig Alert
  • Traffic Incident - Traffic Accident
  • Traffic Hazard - Traffic Hazard
H/I - Select the Freeway Speeds bar (H) to open the freeway speeds color legend, selecting the City Street Speeds bar (I) will display the speed color legend for city streets.
J - If either one of the speed legends is displayed, selecting the Symbols bar will open the symbols legend.
